Thirty-Second Annual Dinner
Sunday Evening, April14, 2013
NAOMI AND DAVID KASZOVITZ
Guests of Honor
Naomi and David have been an integral part of our shul since their arrival in our community from Forest Hills in 1993 with two small children, Alex, 3 and Sarah, 1. When they moved here, our shul was in the midst of Project Nedivim, adding what is now our main sanctuary and our ballroom, the backbone of our shul. Rather than sit on the sidelines while someone else did the work, David quickly got involved with the shul. No job was too small for him. He served as gabbai, ritual chairman, vice president and then served as shul president for 3 years. During his presidency Project Chazak was underway which saw the construction of three new batei midrash and a youth center. After his presidency, David served as Chairman of the Board.

Naomi also became very involved and gave considerable time to our sisterhood, serving as programming chairperson, and served on several committees such as the hospitality committee and youth committee. She later served a 2 year term as sisterhood president.

David grew up in Far Rockaway and is a graduate of HALB, MTA, Queens College and received his MBA from NYU School of Business. He currently works at FieldOne, a computer software firm supporting the service related industry and is a well known Bar Mitzvah laining teacher in the community, encouraging many future Baaley Kori'a. David himself lains on a regular basis in our shul.

Naomi grew up in nearby Oceanside and is also a graduate of HALB, HAFTR High School, Stern College and received her JD at Cardozo School of Law. She worked as an attorney for the City of New York in Family Court before joining her father and brother in the insurance business. She is currently employed at The Rampart Group. She is also Head Coach of the Stern College women's tennis team and has run the tennis and sports programs at Camp Lavi for the past 12 years.

Both Naomi and David have built a "second career" helping to shape the lives of students both on and off the court. They credit their devotion to community involvement to their respective parents, Gabriel and Bonnie Kaszovitz and Arnold z''l and Beverly Skolnick, who are each pillars of their respective communities and taught gemilut chesed by example.

Naomi and David are devoted to their children, and are proud to welcome the newest addition to their family, son-in-law Netanel Goldstein from West Rogers Park, Chicago, who recently married their daughter Sarah. Alex, Sarah, Josh and Eitan have followed in their parent’s footsteps, and are all HALB graduates. Currently both Alex and Netanel attend Yeshiva University, Sarah is at Stern College and Josh and Eitan are students at DRS High School.

CINDY AND JEREMY MERRILL
Community Service Awardees
Cindy and Jeremy Merrill have been dedicated and committed to the Young Couples Minyan and to the Young Israel ever since their move to the Five Towns fourteen years ago. Shortly after moving in, Jeremy served as YILC's youth director. Subsequently, Cindy and Jeremy with a few other families, and with the help of Rabbi Teitelbaum started the Young Couples’ minyan. Jeremy served as the first gabbai and Cindy arranged social events for the Young Couples’ minyan. Most recently Cindy served as one of YILC’s sisterhood presidents. Jeremy remains active in the shul, having recently joined the Youth Committee.

Cindy and Jeremy have been married for 14 years and are the proud parents of 7 year old twins Erin and Kayla who are in 2nd grade at HAFTR and four year old Sam who will be attending the Tifferet Academy in the fall.

Jeremy grew up in Jamaica Estates, attended Queens college and received his MBA at Baruch College. He has been working in health administration ever since. Cindy grew up in Woodmere, and attended Stern College, and got her Masters in Early and Elementary Education at Adelphi University. She has worked for six years at the HALB Preschool in Hewlett. It is young couples like Cindy and Jeremy who are providing renewed vitality to our Shul.
